Oh My F-ing GOD..........

Okokokok....so. I just got done watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex with sexy nerd girl Dragonslippers (this has been a week and a half 26 episode adventure that culminated tonight) and the ending of it simply blew my mind. Blew my mind. There are no more words than that. Ok...so I can come up with words. As mentioned previously I tend to not be at a loss for things such as long winded rants and evaluations of things. So.....let me tell you what I think.

I watched this series because I'd seen both of the Ghost in the Shell movies and although I completely didn't understand them, I thought they were very well done and very well animated. Mayama had been buying the DVDs but I hadn't watched any of the series. However...I knew the basic premise and the bad-assedness of the characters and things of that nature, so it's not like I was going into it completely blind. The first thing I found interesting about the series is that it doesn't have a set story line, but yet it does. There's always a whole background story about this "Laughing Man" thing...but yet there are a lot of (pardon my pun) stand alone episodes mixed in. I LIKED that it was like this. I liked also that it wasn't the cookie cutter "criminal case of the day" thing where they have the crime and Section 9 busts them and the Major and Togusa and Batou are badass and its the same repetitiveness. I mean, yeah, it is a little like that, but it definitely doesn't get old. Ok, and then there are the storyline "Laughing Man" episodes which you always kinda hope get mixed in...and they do.

So...up until the middle of disc 5...things continue in this fashion and the eps are good, they're very good, I'd recommend them, but they aren't really owning my soul or anything. And then last night...episode 20, the last episode on disc 5 is more to the "Laughing Man" thing and it TOTALLY leaves you hanging. TOTALLY. Like no other before it. Man. And I had to go to bed so we couldn't find out the outcome until today. So today. Oh man did we find out the outcome.

And now's where I rave about this (without giving away anything).

The climax episodes to this series literally had me at the edge of my seat. I was like...omfg I'm pretty sure I know what's gonna happen cause I know there's another season coming out and then I'm all like ok....they're gonna do it this way. And then they do and then all of a sudden they don't. And they actually made me worry that it WASN'T all going to go the way I wanted it to and I was like HOW CAN THEY DO THIS!!!!! And then....bam. Genius. They put it together. It blew my mind. Simply blew my mind.

Go watch it....seriously. No series end has blown my mind and dragged me along emotionally in the way that this one has. This isn't even like the emotional rollercoaster the Gravitation manga put me on...this is like....man. Its a mix of that and the way I felt when I got out of Oldboy except it was all happiness and like....oh man that was AWESOME.

That's my piece. Experience it for yourselves.

The Major kicks SERIOUS ass!!

Nerd girl Yukino...signing off for now.
